GOAL! The midfielder
threads a pass through the defence and the striker latches on to it
and scores. He's beaten the offside trap by timing his run perfectly
and not moving past the second last opponent until after the ball
was played.
NO GOAL! The striker
is nearer to the opposition goal than the second last opponent when
the ball is played. It's all about timing your run!
GOAL! Two players
burst through and the winger plays the ball to the striker, who
scores. Although the striker is ahead of the defensive line, he is
not offside because he was behind his striking partner when the ball
was passed.
GOAL! The midfielder
plays a wayward pass, but it deflects off the defender's leg into
the path of the striker - who's now in an offside position. As long
as the striker was onside when his team-mate passed the ball, the
goals stands.
GOAL! The striker in
the middle latches on to a through-ball and scores. His team-mate
was offside, but as he was not interfering with play the goal
stands.
GOAL! This looks like
a certain offside, but some quick thinking from the striker in the
middle means it's not. He moves back onside, allowing his team-mate
to come from an onside position and score.
